100 Meter Dash
Bridgeport teammates Kayla Haywood and McKenna Smith sped away from the field with Haywood taking the top spot at 12.29 which is Tied for the 2nd Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Smith clocked an impressive 12.43. No one else was under 12.75, but all 8 finalists were under 13 seconds. One of my predicted placers did not run.

200 Meter Dash
As in the 100, it was the Bridgeport duo of Kayla Haywood and McKenna Smith dominating the race. This one was closer with Haywood taking the win by just 0.03. Haywood's 25.32 gives her the 5th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance while Smith's 25.35 gives her the 6th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. No one else was within a second of this pair. Two others came in under 27 seconds.

400 Meter Dash
Bridgeport's McKenna Smith gave Bridgeport it's first dominating win of Saturday by taking the 400 by almost 2 seconds. Her 58.46 wsa the only time under 60 seconds. Berkeley Springs' Ashley Griffin and Pikeview's Alexis O'Dell were the only other ones to be under 61 seconds.

800 Meter Run
OaK Glen's Kelsey Chambers took the lead pretty much from the gun and led the field through the first lap in 68 seconds. She already had a bit of a gap, as 2nd place was Berkeley Springs' Danielle Haynes at 70 seconds. I believe that Independence's Adriana Cook and Webster's Samantha Stout were running in 3rd and 4th at 1:11. Over the course of the 2nd lap, Chambers lengthened her lead before a late push from Cook got her close. Chambers clocked a 2:22.22 with Cook getting a 2:23.73. No one else made it in under 2:27. Stout moved into the 3rd spot with Wayne's Kylie Rutherford close behind in 4th as both were under 2:28. The front 6 made it in under 2:30.

1600 Meter Run
The field went out reasonably in a large pack with Oak Glen's Kelsey Chambers at the front of a 12 person group. Wayne's Kylie Rutherford was in 2nd. Grafton's Alicia Parsons was in 3rd. Webster's Samantha Stout was in 4th. Berkeley Springs' Danielle Haynes was in 5th with Philip Barbour's Marissa Long in 6th with all crossing at 1:19. On the 2nd lap, the group spread out a little, but 12 remained in contact. Chambers remained in the lead at 2:44, trailed closely by Rutherford, Haynes, and Stout with the same time. Berkeley Springs' Kinsey Reed had moved into 5th also at 2:44 with Parsons holding the 6th position at 2:45. On lap 3, Chambers picked up the pace. She went from a 1:25 lap to a 1:20 lap, to cross at 4:04. Stout and Rutherford has the best response to the move, coming through at 4:06 in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Hayes reamined in 4th just ahead of Reed with both at 4:08. North Marion's Taylor Trowbridge moved into the 6th spot, also at 4:08. On the final lap, Chambers put away the field, closing with a 1:15 to take the win by 6 seconds in 5:19.29. Stout edged out Rutherford for 2nd 5:25.29 to 5:25.91. No one else was under 5:30. Trowbridge moved up to 4th on the final lap. Scott's Samantha Graffius made the move up to 5th with Haynes holding onto 6th.

3200 Meter Run
The field went out rather conservatively with Berkeley Springs' Kinsey Reed leading the first lap at 1:25. Oak Glen's Kelsey Chambers was 2nd at the same time. Frankfort's Julianna Butcher was in 3rd at 1:26. That time was matched by Grafton's Alicia Parsons, Webster's Samantha Stout, and Wayne's Kylie Rutherford in 4th through 6th, respectively. The paced slowed on lap two as a massive pack remained together. Now it was Rutherford in the front at 2:57. That was matched by Stout, Chambers, Parsons, and Reed in 2nd through 5th. Scott's Sheena Chambers had moved into the 6th position. At least 11 were within 2 seconds. Lap 3 continued the lack of agression, but the front six started to pull away. Rutherford remained at the front in 4:27. The next five matched that time with the order being Kelsey Chambers, Parsons, Stout, Redd, and Sheena Chambers. More of the same on lap 4 as the front six remained together and pulled away from the field. Rutherford retained the lead at 5:58, matched by Stout and Parsons. Kelsey Chambers was in 4th, Reed 5th, and Sheena Chambers was in 6th, each at 5:59. On lap five, it was more of the same as the front six had firmly established themselves as the place-takers. Kelsey Chambers moved to the front at 7:29, that time being matched by Parsons in 2nd. Stout was in 3rd, Rutherford in 4th, Reed in 5th, and Sheena Chambers in 6th, each at 7:30. This group now had a 16 second gap on 7th place. Lap six saw things continue to be tight. Kelsey Chambers Continued to lead with Stout and Parsons each equaling her 9:02 time. Rutherford was in 4th at 9:03. Sheena Chambers matched that time and moved up to 5th. Reed was in 6th at 9:04. On the 7th lap, Kelsey Chambers finally started to assert herself, coming through in 10:28. Stout was in 2nd at 10:30 with Parsons 3rd at 10:31. Rutherford was in 4th at 10:35, matched by Sheena Chambers in 5th. Reed was in 6th at 10:41. In the final lap, Kelsey Chambers obliterated the field with a 1:13 close to finish in 11:41.83. Stout outdistanced Parsons for 2nd 11:53.84 to 11:55.75. No one else made it in under 12:00. Rutherford outkicked Sheena Chambers for 4th, and Reed held on for 6th.

100 Meter High Hurdles
Nicholas County's Elizabeth Messer moved to the lead at about the midway point and edged further away down the stretch to take the win in 15.32, which is the 8th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Summers County's Emily Smith recorded a strong 15.59 for 2nd. No one else was under 16 seconds. Two others were under 16.50.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Bridgeport's Jenna Alonge controlled the race pretty much from the gun in taking the event in 47.34. Ritchie's Janessa Adams closed well over the last two hurdles to snag 2nd over Sissonville's Grace Montgomery. Alonge was the only one under 48 seconds. Adams and Montgomery were the only other ones under 49. The top 7 were under 50.

4x100 Meter Relay
The North Marion crew of McKenzi Fisher, Mariah Dent, Alexis Hillberry, and Marlee Angelucci gave the Huskies a repeat title. Their 51.52 held off Roane's 51.75. They were the only teams under 52 seconds. The next four spots were separated by just 0.53 seconds as they all came through under 53 seconds.

4x200 Meter Relay
Bridgeport's quartet of Kayla Haywood, Lexie Sczerba, Hannah McCall, and McKenna Smith took control early and sped to a 1:46.15, which is the 4th Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. The only team close was North Marion who was disqualified for an out-of-zone handoff. No one else was under 1:51. Only Frankfort made it in under 1:52 among the rest of the field. Only 4 teams were under 1:53, AND only 5 were under 1:54. One of my predicted placers was disqualified.

4x400 Meter Relay
Petersburg got the early lead on the first leg. North Marion had moved to the front by the end of the 2nd leg. Berkeley Springs moved to the front at the end of the 3rd leg. Berkeley Springs received a sub-61 anchor leg from Ashley Griffin to seal the win. The foursome of Ashley Griffin, Danielle Haynes, Kinsey Reed, and Keri Shetler won by nearly 3 seconds with their 4:15.98. Petersburg and Weir took the 2nd and 3rd spots, respectively, and were the only other teams under 4:20. Robert C. Byrd and North Marion were under 4:21.

4x800 Meter Relay
Philip Barbour led the first leg at 2:33. Berkeley Springs was in 2nd. Scott was in 3rd, followed by PikeView, Oak Glen, and Wayne. On the 2nd leg, Oak Glen took the lead and held just the slimmest of margins over Berkeley Springs as both crossed at 5:13. Wayne was just behind in 3rd at 5:14. North Marion had moved up into 4th at 5:21. Keyser was running 5th at 5:22. Frankfort had moved into 6th at 5:25. At the end of 3 legs, Oak Glen and Berkeley Springs had distanced themselves from the field with Oak Glen crossing at 7:43 and Berkeley Springs at 7:44. North Marion moved into 3rd at 8:06 with Wayne at 8:07 in 4th. Liberty Harrison had moved into 5th at 8:09, and Frankfort was in 6th at 8:10. Oak Glen got a 2:22 anchor leg from Kelsey Chambers to put away the race. Their group of Christen Mangano, Alex Arnott, Felicity Nolder, and Kelsey Chambers clocked a 10:05.61 to win by nearly 9 seconds. Berkeley Springs was 2nd in 10:14.03. No one else was under 10:38. Wayne moved back into 3rd ahead of North Marion as they were the only other ones to go under 10:40. Liberty Harrison held off Keyser for 5th.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Nicholas County repeated as champion as the group of Arianna Crawford, Alexis Brown, Maria Stear, and Elizabeth Messer clocked a 1:06.45 to win by 1.8 seconds. Ritchie came through in 2nd with Bridgeport in 3rd as the only others to go under 1:09. Scott was the only other team under 1:10.

High Jump
Only three jumpers cleared 5'0 with Herbert Hoover's Bailey Aab winning the event on the tie-breaker over the Ritchie County duo of Kylie Gump and Olivia Vanoy, who were 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Three others cleared 4'10.

Pole Vault
North Marion's Skylah Haught and Ritchie's Sarah Cokeley were the only ones to clear 8'6 with Haught taking the win on misses. Only Roane's Kylee Goodson was able to clear 8'0 among the rest of the field. Only five vaulters cleared the opening height. Two of my predicted placers did not clear the opening height.

Long Jump
Bridgeport's Kayla Haywood and Liberty Harrison's Alexandra Allen both sailed past 17'0 with Haywood's 17'4 getting the win over Allen's 17'1.25. Roane's Josie Raines and Summers County's Emily Smith also topped 16'0 in taking 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Shot Put
Bridgeport's Raina Young was the only thrower to top 34' with her toss of 34'2.50. Lincoln's Reilly Gunter was the only other thrower to go over 33'0 in taking 2nd place. No one else topped 32'0. Only 5 threw over 31'0.

Ritchie's Mikayla Little hurled the discus 119'7 to take the win. Brideport's Raina Young was close to her at 117'7. Oak Glen's Emmy Delekta hit 107'10 for a big 3rd place to help Oak Glen secure 2nd place in the meet. Bridgeport's Hannah McCall threw 106'5 for 4th. No one else was over 100'0.
